Ireland rejects new betting shops

Kerry County in Ireland received a formal complaint to stop granting gaming licenses.

Ireland.- Irish Kerry County could deny further gaming licenses as a group or residents presented a formal appeal to stop gaming expansion. Meanwhile, the gaming operator Bar One Racing of Co Louth is planning to install the County’s seventh sports betting shop at current light fixtures shop, 5 Pembroke St.

“With the evidence of gambling addiction in Irish society, Kerry County Council planners should be confident enough to look at a proposal socially, and not just physically,” commented appellant Josephine Healy of Lee Drive, Tralee, Co Kerry, who also added that the government should take into account the social impacts of gaming operations.

The group of appellants consider Kerry Town has enough betting shops and authorities should not grant new licenses. However, the Kerry Co Council has already approved One Racing of Co Louth’s plan for the seventh betting shop. The rest of the gaming venues are located at the area of Edward St/Castle St and at Upper Rock St, according to the Irish Examiner.
