Google Play adds gaming apps

Google Play has included online gaming applications for tablets and smartphones in the United Kingdom.

UK.- Google UK has finally addressed licensed gaming platforms and has included betting apps in its virtual market, Google Play. Earlier this week, one of the biggest companies in the internet industry decided to change its policies and add iGaming apps in the virtual store for the first time in its history.

The new apps will only be available for UK and other European Google customers. iGaming services will have to be individually installed without the aid of Google Play functionalities, according to Totally Gaming. The company had imposed a ban on gambling apps back in 2013, even though they’re legal in the United Kingdom.

Gambling firms in the UK, France and other European territories have supposedly received emails from Google confirming the change. Before the lift, the companies were only able to offer their apps on their websites or through third party operators.

“From the beginning of August 2017, Google will accept applications for the distribution of gambling apps within the Play store in the UK, France and the Republic of Ireland. At a later date, this policy change may be expanded to new regions and countries,” revealed managing director of UK based Tech Company Degree 53 Andrew Daniels.
