Canada will offer gaming training

CGA’s founding mandate includes advocacy and education, communications and industry research.

The Canadian Gaming Association is a not-for-profit organization that was created with the fundamental goal of creating balance in the public dialogue about gaming in Canada.

Canada.- The Canadian Gaming Association -CGA- is launching a national needs assessment to survey all sectors of our industry – operators, regulators and suppliers – to determine the needs and requirements for training and education programs for the Canadian industry.

CGA’s founding mandate includes advocacy, education, communications and industry research. Education includes providing industry specific education for those working in Canada’s gaming industry and providing assistance and leadership in the development of industry-wide programs. Enhancing programming at the Canadian Gaming Summit to bring a greater focus on educational content and supporting the efforts of the Canadian Gaming Centre of Excellence at Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries are examples of our actions since inception.

Based upon the creation and resultant output of the Summit Education Committee and ongoing dialogue with leading industry participants over the past few years we are beginning the process of developing a national approach to gaming-centric education, including courses and curriculum. To ensure a proper curriculum is developed, CGA has initiated a national needs assessment that includes identifying educational institutions that currently provide course and programs utilized by various industry participants.

The needs assessment will involve multiple phases that include a questionnaire followed by face-to face-interviews. The result will be a report that details the Canadian Gaming Education needs as well as an inventory of the training material currently available. We are planning to present the first phase of results at this year’s Canadian Gaming Summit.

The resulting Canadian Gaming curriculum will be developed utilizing existing material, industry leaders and identified Canadian and global education partners. Our goal is to ensure industry educational programs are created and delivered to meet a set of national standards delivered in co-operation with educational institutions across Canada.
