Bloomberry targets Vietnam

In addition to an obvious interest in the Japanese market, casino operator Bloomberry Resorts has announced its interest in the Vietnamese market.

Philippines.- Bloomberry Resorts Corp has revealed its intentions to expand its reach to the Vietnamese market in the long term. The Philiphines-based company will also attempt to land in the Japanese casino market -like every other big operator in the world- but announced there’s still no certainties on the expansion.

Bloomberry presented a filing to the Philippine Stock Change in which it announced its interest in foreign markets: “Vietnam and Japan are just some of several prospective jurisdictions outside the Philippines that the corporation is looking at, but there is nothing definitive at this point.”

Company’s chairman Enrique Razon had already advanced Bloomberry’s intentions “in expanding his casino operations in the Asian region” during an interview with philStar.com, but also explained that would depend “on these countries’ final regulation governing casinos and gaming”.

The Japanese market is set to get its regulatory frame next year once the Integrated Resorts Implementation Bill gets approved in order to provide specifics on the industry’s taxation, location and other requirements. Vietnam, on the other hand, is about to enter a three-year trial period starting December 1 during which locals aged 21 and older will be allowed to gamble at domestic casinos.
