BettingExpert leaves Russia

Russian gaming authorities have strengthened the measures against iGaming providers.

Russia.- BettingExpert, the international sports betting network announced yesterday the exit from the Russian market as the authorities have set several strict measures against the sector. A few months ago, Roskomnadzor, the Russian media and communications watchdog demanded operator to restrict the access to the website.

“BettingExpert is leaving the Russian market. The tournament in November is the last one. You hold on here! Wish you all the best and good mood,” commented members of BettingExpert in a company’s Twitter account. Apparently, the tweet made a reference to Premier Dmitry Medvedev’s controversial comments about the Crimea conflict, when he wished the local pensioners to hold on, as well as health and good mood.

The website has experienced a restricted access since July due to the online clampdown of unlicensed bookmakers and casinos. The company made the announcement whilst the Roskomnadzor has blocked 2,500 websites of bookmakers and casinos last month.
