A Baltimore casino faces federal lawsuit

Local media reported that the Horseshoe Casino denied the claims against them.

US.-  According to a federal lawsuit filed against Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, contracts for the construction of the casino were not sufficiently awarded to minority businesses. The allegation claims that the project received federal housing funds earmarked for that purpose.

The Daily Record of Baltimore reported that the complaint was filed by an unnamed individual and the Celestial Concrete Inc., the Maryland Business Clergy Partnership. As stated in the plaintiffs, the city fraudulently received the funds rather than providing contracting opportunities for minority businesses, training and employment for low-income individuals, which is required by the U.S. Housing & Urban Development Department for recipients of the funding.

Sources from the company stated that Horseshoe Casino Baltimore “vehemently denies” the lawsuit’s claims.
